Mickey Rourke Hopes to Play Sonny Barger in Hells Angels Movie

Talk about a stroke of casting genius: former pretty boy and Iron Man 2 villain Mickey Rourke might play inimitable Hells Angels founder Sonny Barger in an upcoming feature film.

The Montreal Gazette suggests that before the actor's epic career comeback in 2008's The Wrestler, Rourke's personal downfall came not from drugs or alcohol, but rather due to "... a belligerent attitude toward authority figures." Perfect for the Barger role, yeah?

If he indeed takes on a Hells Angels film project (which is expected to be helmed by Tony Scott), his anti-establishment issues should work particularly well for the 57 year-old actor, since he told the Orlando Sentinel that he's "... been working on a motorcycle gangs script for 20 years."

We'll see if this one materializes; I certainly hope it does.
